CIBS LAUNCHED ONLINE CERTIFICATE COURSES
Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, being one of the most important institutions for Buddhist Studies in the country, has been widening its reach nationally and internationally through different programmes in recent years. However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, many of Institute’s programmes stand postponed, including national and international seminars. In this unavoidable situation the institute takes it as an opportunity and started online courses, webinars and lecture series through social media.
The institute has recently launched two online certificate courses:
1. Certificate Course in Bhoti Language and Literature (Bhoti/Ladakh)
2. Certificate Course Buddhism (English)
The three-month certificate courses were started on 1st July, 2020, participated by national and international students. While welcoming the students on the first day of the course, the Director Prof. Konchok Wangdu said, “the aim of initiating these short courses in Buddhist studies are certainly not to make profit and to promote Buddhism as a religion, but to teach Buddha’s teaching of compassion, wisdom, positive thinking, universal responsibility, science of mind and ancient Indian education system for realizing the ultimate truth for the benefit of all sentient beings”. He also welcomed the students of certificate course in Bhoti Language and Literature and talked to them about the importance of learning indigenous language and literature as an important part of one’s culture and heritage.
The course programmes are being developed and organized by the Departments of Bhot Baudh Dharshan, Baudh Literature and Baudh Puranic History, CIBS.
