The Institute is located 8 kilometers South of Leh Town on the bank of the holy river Indus (Sindhu) at Choglamsar. The Institute has two campuses. On the Old Campus, the School Wing of CIBS comprising of classes from 6th to 12th runs under the charge of a Principal assisted by PGTs, TGTs and some other staff members. Spreading in about 3 acres of the land, the Old Campus consists of an Academic block, a small auditorium for 400 audience, an office and a library for the children. Apart from these, there are one Guest House with 10 full furnished rooms, kitchen and lounge; one Staff Room, one room for Store, Book Bank, stationery etc.
The New Campus of CIBS spreads on 27 acres of land covered by boundary wall and attached by an approach road. It is located just a half kilometer North from the Old Campus. The New Campus has separate blocks for academics, administration, library and three hostels. The three storied Academic Block has 17 classrooms and 10 rooms for various departments with all possible facilities. A three storied library building has general and Bhoti sections with Research Cabins, Reading Room and rooms for various sections. There are 60 residential Quarters of various categories for staff members. There is a large sports stadium with the facilities of spectators’ gallery, dressing rooms, store etc., on the New Campus. Apart from this, the New Campus has an Auditorium, a Debate & Conference Hall, a Dispensary, and a Canteen-cum-Recreation Centre.
