The Institute organizes National Seminar/Conference once in a year and local seminar twice/thrice in a year on different topics relevant to the different branches of Buddhism and the scholars from different universities and Research Institutes take part in the deliberations. Participation of teachers and the students of university classes in the conference are mandatory in the National as well as Local Seminars organized by the Institute.
The Institute organizes workshop once or twice in a year on different subjects involving the scholars from different Institutions/Universities of the country.
In the year 2021-22 the following seminars/workshop were organised

Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, being one of the most important institutions for
Buddhist Studies in the country, has been widening its reach nationally and internationally
through different programmes in recent years. However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, many
of Institute’s programmes stand postponed, including national and international seminars. In
this unavoidable situation the institute takes it as an opportunity and started online courses,
webinars and lecture series through social media.
During the COVID-19 pandemic almost all higher education institutions (HEIs) around the
world have initiated online teachings, online seminars, workshops, webinars involving large
number of teachers and pupils. Complying with the correspondence of UGC and Ministry of
Culture, Govt. of India, Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (Deemed to be University) Leh
has also initiate weekly webinars and lectures online. The webinars are being conducted by
the Departments of the Institute, following the guideline designed by the Institute through
CIBS facebook page/ Google Meet, Zoom etc. The theme and topics are selected by the
concerned Departments to meet the aims and objective of the Institute and the subject area of
the department to benefit not only the teachers and students but also larger audience in the
world.
1. A three-day international e-seminar was organized from 25-27 November 2022 by the
Hindi Department of the CIBS, Leh on the topic “Swastantrya Summer of 1857 and
Hindi Literature”. Dr. Sangeeta Balwant (Hon’ble Minister of State for Cooperation,
Government of Uttar Pradesh) was the chief guest of the inaugural session of the
seminar. Special guest Mr. Hague from Netherlands, Prof. Mohan Kant Gautam
(Former Chancellor, European University of East and West), Prof. Kuldeep Chand
Agnihotri, and Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and Shriyut
Sridhar Paradkar, an eminent literateur who was awarded the President's Award were
present in the function. The chief guest of the concluding session was Dr. Balmukund
Pandey (Senior Historian and Organization Secretary, History Compilation Scheme).
The special guests of the concluding session were Dr. Kiran Hazarika, member of
University Grants Commission, senior literateur Dr. Satyendra Sharma, senior critic
Dr. Atula Bhaskar, former Head of Hindi Department of the institute, Mr. Sonam
Wangchuk and Dr. Bharat Thakor. In the technical session, research students, teachers
and scholars from different regions presented their research papers. Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Vaidyanath Labh gave the presidential address in the seminar. Dr. Rahul Mishra,
Head of Hindi Department was the convener and Dr. Thinley Gyurmed (Translation)
presented the proceeding of the seminar. About one thousand participants from all
over the country and abroad were present in the three days.
2. According to the Guidelines and Annual Program issued by the Department of
Official Language, a one-day online workshop was organized on 16.03.2022 by the
Official Language Implementation Committee of Central Institute of Buddhist Studies
(Deemed University), Choglamsar, Leh. related to the progressive use of official
language Hindi. Shri Bhagwan Pandey ji, the Official Language Consultant of the
Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, has been invited as expert. Office
staff of the Institute participated in the work shop.
