CIBS Leh Celebrated Yoga Day 2020
Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (Deemed to be University) observed International Yoga Day online through CIBS’s official Youtube premieres on 21 June, 2020. In view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation Yoga Day was observed with minimum participants headed by Dr Thinles Yangjor, Reader and HoD, Sowa Rigpa Department of CIBS Leh with proper care of SOPs and precautions.
The Yoga session was participated by former students of CIBS and Yoga Instructors, Stanzin Chosrab, Tsering Yangchen and Jigmet Rinchen. They have demonstrated several basic Yoga Asana (body postures). A comprehensive commentary by Dolma Tsering, a research assistant from the Institute complemented the whole Yoga session.
The Yoga session was followed by a talk on “Yoga and Sowa Rigpa” by Dr Thinles Yangjor. “Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body, purifies the energy locations of the body, reinforces the functions of the organs, cleans the spirit and soothes the mental state of mind” , said Dr Yangjor. He stressed on the connection of five elements (space, wind, fore, water, earth), which in turn is connected to the three principle elements of traditional Tibetan medicine “rlung”, “Trikspa”, “Padkan” which utilizes the mastery of breath as well as internal subtle energies (Canals and chakras).
At last Public Relation Officer/Media Incharge Dr. Sonam Wangchok on behalf of the organizing committee thanked the Director of CIBS Prof. Konchok Wangdu and all other participants who helped the organizing committee to make the programme a success. While talking about the importance of Yoga particularly during these days of Lockdown and Covid-19 Restrictions, Dr Sonam said Yoga is a great means to reduce the level of stress and increase sound and healthy life.
The online Youtube Premieres was arranged by the Media Specialist of the institute, Shri. Samstan Gyurmet.
