1. Official PhD Admission Notification

2. Key Information & Dates at a Glance
- Notification Date: May 20, 2026
- Last Date to Submit Hardcopy (Normal): Within 21 days from the date of notification.
- Last Date to Submit with Late Fee: June 11, 2026 (with an additional late fee of ₹500 for General Category / ₹300 for other categories).
- Application Fee:
- General Category: ₹1000
- SC/ST/Differently-Abled/EWS/OBC (Non-creamy layer): ₹700
- Note: If applying for two subjects, an extra fee of ₹1000 (General) or ₹700 (Reserved) is applicable.
- Available Subjects: Bhoti Darshan, Sanskrit Bauddha Darshan, Bhoti Literature, Sanskrit Literature, Comparative Philosophy, and Bauddh Puranic History.
- Entrance Test Languages: Bhoti, English, and Hindi.
3. Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualifications:
- A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s Degree with Honours with Research (Minimum 75% marks or equivalent CGPA).
- OR a 1-year/2-semester Master’s Degree after a 4-year Bachelor’s program (Minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA).
- OR a 2-year/4-semester Master’s Degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s program (Minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA).
- A relaxation of 5% marks (or 0.5 CGPA) is allowed for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/EWS candidates.
- Direct Entry (Exemption from Written Test): Candidates who have cleared UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED/SLET, foreign sponsored students, and full-time CIBS teachers who completed probation are exempted from the Research Entrance Test (RET). They must, however, give a presentation before the Interview Board.
Important Merit Weightage: For candidates qualifying via RET, the final selection weightage will be 70% for the Entrance Test and 30% for the Interview performance.
